CCTV camera installed on a building

Many customers compare CCTV quotations only by the number of cameras and the final price. That is risky because two systems with the same camera count can perform very differently. A proper CCTV solution depends on the purpose of each camera, the lighting condition, the distance to be covered, recording duration, cable quality, power protection, mobile viewing, service support and future expansion.

Start with the purpose of each camera

Before choosing equipment, decide what each camera must achieve. Some cameras are for general monitoring, some for face identification, some for entry and exit records, some for cash counters, some for vehicle movement and some for perimeter security. A wide-angle camera may cover a large area but may not capture faces clearly at a distance. A camera with the wrong lens can give a beautiful picture that is not useful when an incident happens.

Analog CCTV vs IP CCTV

Analog CCTV is often cost-effective for small and medium sites where basic monitoring and recording are required. Modern HD analog systems can give good quality when installed with proper cable, power supply and DVR. IP CCTV is better when you need higher resolution, advanced analytics, PoE cabling, easier network integration, centralized management or larger expansion. IP cameras can be excellent for institutions, offices, warehouses, campuses and sites where video quality and scalability matter.

Choose analog when the budget is controlled, the site is smaller, cable routes are simple and advanced network features are not required. Choose IP when you want higher detail, flexible recording, better integration with networking, remote management, PoE switches, analytics or future expansion. A professional installer should explain the trade-off clearly instead of pushing one option blindly.

Important checklist before approval

  • Camera purpose and coverage map are clearly discussed.
  • Night vision, low-light performance and glare are considered.
  • Storage days are calculated based on camera count, resolution and motion settings.
  • Cabling, conduit, power supply, earthing and UPS backup are included where needed.
  • Mobile viewing is configured securely with strong passwords.
  • Warranty, maintenance and support response are clear.

Cheap CCTV systems often become expensive later through blurred footage, missing recording, weak night view, poor cable joints, adapter failures, hard disk problems and repeated complaints. Blue Orbit Technologies uses branded and tested products, plans camera positions carefully and explains what the customer can realistically expect. The goal is dependable evidence and peace of mind, not only a low initial invoice.
